July 12: Arpatambora
Arpatambora is an innovative duo formed in 1995 featuring Harpist, Sanya Eng and Percussionist, Ryan Scott. The duo has been featured twice on CBC’s “Music Around Us” and in numerous recital venues across Southern Ontario and the North Eastern States. In addition to regular concertizing featuring the works of Carlos Salzedo, Debussy, Sarasate and Satie (arranged by Ryan Scott) the duo is actively commissioning new works from Canadian composers. The duo was featured with piano most recently in a performance of Dissolve by Abigail Richardson, under the direction of Gary Kulesha. The piece won top prize at the International Rostrum of Composers (under 30 category), the first Karen Kieser prize and The 2005 CMC Prairie Region Emerging Composer Competition. The performance in the Glenn Gould studio was subsequently broadcast numerous times in many countries.
Three Toronto composers, Elisha Denburg, Glenn James, and Lan-chee-Lam will have world premieres - works written specifically for this event. Erik Ross joins the group on piano for a performance of the award-winning "Dissolve."

September 27: Madawaska String Quartet workshop
This exceptional quartet will be the Ensemble is Residence for the CCMW's 3rd Quartet workshop. Composers will have a chance to work closely with, and get feedback from the ensemble's players and the CCMW's Composer-advisors.
MSQ has presented highly diverse programming to audiences at home and
abroad. With a repertoire that zig zags across musical boundaries, they
have brought pieces from the mainstream to performance art, from the
film-score to the avant-garde.

2009-2010 Season Opener:
The Composers' Orchestra
Still in the early stages of planning, the Composers' Orchestra will return in its string orchestra incarnation in November 2009. Traditionally the resident ensemble of the CCMW, it has performed many new works over the years, several of which will be performed in this event alongside new works by emerging composers. This workshop and concert will be present largely due to the support of the Ontario Arts Council.
Further details TBA. Composers, see our Call for Scores page!
